Lunch

what an underated meal lunch is.In the uk and Ireland, we tend to rush lunch, try to squeeze it into a half hour in some cases. i watched a film in which one of the charachters said "even rapists and murderes get an hour for lunch in prison".
Even if you cant affford it everyday, you should try to get to a good restaurant at least once a month for a good lunch. Wednesday or thursday is a good time of the week for this.

Sunday Lunch

Sunday Lunch is special. There is no other meal like it, its more than the food, its an occasion. Idealy spent with family and or friends, it should be in your house or theirs, never a restaurant. It should be relaxed and spread out over the day, it shouldnt try to impress but should be genourous. It comes into its own during the winter with big roasts of meat, root vegatables, roasted potatoes, finish the list with your favourites. The gravy should be made with the meat juices, never gravy mix.
After all the week throws at you it should lift your spirit and leave you facing the week to come contented.
This Sunday was Easter sunday and Lunch was roast leg of lamb, studded with garlic and rosemary, cooked pink. Served with creamed and roasted potatoes, roast parsnips and onions, vichy carrots and stir fried cabbage. Pudding was Queen of pudding. Wine was a `95 croze hermitage. Cheese followed, a nice brie and some good salty cheddar. Coffee and grappa and some easter egg finished the meal.
